British Palestine included all of what is today called "Jordan" and all of Israel and Judea and Samaria - and Gaza.
THE BRITISH HAD PROMISED ALL OF THE MANDATE TO THE JEWS FOR A HOMELAND.
The only people who called themselves Palestinians from the beginning of the mandate era until 1967 were JEWS (who did so until 1948); Arabs called themselves Arabs. In 1967, some Arabs started calling themselves "palestinians".
From 1948-1967, when Arab's called for the end of Israel and the establishment of another Arab state they were not, of course, referring to the so-called "occupied" territories; they wanted all of Israel.
The people who now call themselves Jordanian are also just Arabs.
The area now called Jordan was called The Emirate of Transjordan until 1948 when it became the Kingdom of Jordan. (It was called "Transjordania" from 1921 - and was administered as part of the British Mandate of Palestine.
Arafat tried to overthrow the King of Jordan - and takeover Jordan and call it "Palestine" in 1971, but failed.
The so-called Palestinians of Hamas and the PLO really want to destroy Israel; when they say "two-state solution" they mean Jordan and Palestine, not Israel and Palestine.
The 22 years since the OSLO ACCORD have not brought the impasse to an end - neither did the unconditional withdrawal from Gaza.
I think a "two-state solution" is still possible, but not the one that is on the table.
I think Israel ought to annex Judea and Samaria and JORDAN ought to rename itself THE KINGDOM OF PALESTINE & Jordan, and grant citizenship to Arabs living in Judea and Samaria - who can remain there and vote in municipal and local elections within Judea and Samaria and national elections in the Kingdom of Palestine.
Everything else would remain as it it is now - the security wall between Judea and Samaria and the rest of Israel, and so on.
This solution has more to do with history and truth than any now on the table.
And it give both sides most of what they want: Israel keeps Judea and Samaria and Arabs get a country named "Palestine" which comprises MOST of the lands that were once called Palestine during the British Mandate.
